Southern Accents Horchow Gift Certificate Sweepstakes
Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASING DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time ("ET") on July 23, 2004. To enter electronically, follow the directions on the screen to complete and submit the online entry. Online entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on September 3, 2004. Limit: One online entry per email account. To enter by mail, handprint your name, address, e-mail address (optional) and daytime phone number on a postcard and mail via regular U.S. Mail to: Southern Accents Horchow Gift Certificate Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 9203, Medford, NY 11763-9203. Each entry must be mailed separately. Mail-in entries must be postmarked between July 23, 2004 and September 3, 2004 and received by September 10, 2004. All entries become the property of Southern Accents Magazine ("Sponsor") and will not be returned or acknowledged.
Grand prize winner will be selected by random drawing under the supervision of Ventura Associates Inc, an independent judging organization whose decisions are final and binding. Random drawing conducted on or about September 30, 2004. Grand Prize: A $500.00 Gift Certificate to Horchow. Gift Certificate is subject to the terms and conditions printed on the Gift Certificate, including, but not limited to the expiration date. No cash refund for any unused portion of a Gift Certificate will be given. No substitution except at the discretion of the Sponsor, which may substitute prize with one of equal or greater value in case of unavailability. Prize is not redeemable for cash. Prize is non-assignable or transferable except to a surviving spouse. Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received, estimated at 1:40,658.
Winner will be notified by e-mail and/or mail. If Winner cannot be contacted at e-mail and/or home address provided, she/he will forfeit prize and an alternate winner will be selected at random from all non-winning eligible entries. Winner may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability ("Affidavit") within 14 days from notification date. If Affidavit is untimely returned or returned as undeliverable, it will result in disqualification, and the corresponding prize will be awarded to an alternate winner in a separate random drawing. If winner is otherwise eligible under these rules, but is nevertheless deemed a minor in his or her state of primary residence, the prize will be awarded in the name of winner's parent or legal guardian. Parent or legal guardian will be required to execute Affidavit on minor's behalf. Winner is responsible for all federal, state, and local sales and income taxes. Prize will be awarded within approximately 30 days after Southern Accents receipt of Affidavit. Unless prohibited by law, by accepting prize, winner consents to use of name, address, prize won and/or photograph for online posting and publicity and advertising purposes without further compensation. Winner's name will be posted on the web site. Prize is guaranteed to be awarded.
Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and Washington, DC, age 18 or older. Sweepstakes is governed by U.S. law. Employees of Sponsor, Southern Progress Corp., Horchow, Ventura Associates, their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and suppliers and the families of each are not eligible to enter or win. Void where prohibited by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
To request the winner's name, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope by September 10, 2004 to Southern Accents Horchow Gift Certificate Sweepstakes Winner, c/o Ventura Associates, 1040 6th Avenue, 20th Floor/Dept.: DT, New York, NY 10018.

In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the "Authorized Account Holder" of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. Authorized Account Holder means the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Entry materials/data that have been tampered with or altered, or mass entries or entries generated by a script, macro or use of automated devices are void. The Sponsor is not responsible for: (i) lost, late, misdirected, damaged, illegible or postage due mail/entries; or (ii) error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of or failure to receive entry information by Sponsors on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site or any combination thereof; or (iii) any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in the sweepstakes. By participating in the Sweepstakes, you (i) agree to be bound by these official rules, including all eligibility requirements, and (ii) agree to be bound by the decisions of Sponsors and the independent judging organization, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Sweepstakes. Failure to comply with these official rules may result in disqualification from the Sweepstakes. Sponsors reserves the right to: (i) permanently disqualify from any sweepstakes it sponsors any person it believes has intentionally violated these official rules; and (ii) withdraw the online method of entry if it becomes technically corrupted, (including if a computer virus or system malfunction inalterably impairs its ability to conduct the sweepstakes), and to select winner from among all eligible entries received prior to withdrawal. CAUTION: Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operations of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law and to disqualify such entrant from the sweepstakes.
